George Hill

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, this future NBA star was destined for greatness. George Hill’s talents were noticeable from his high school career and onwards. While obtaining his diploma from Broad Ripple High School, Hill was considered one of the top high school players in Indiana and became a part of the Indianapolis Magnificent Seven.The player’s talents led him to receive endless scholarship opportunities; however, Hill would inevitable choose Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis or IUPUI for short. During his college career, the future NBA star would stand out from the college crowd. Not only would Hill earn the Summit League ‘Player of the Year’ title, but also, he was an “Honorable Mention All-American.” By the time Hill was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs (2008), he was the fifth all-time leading scorer at IUPUI, earning 1,619 points.The player’s move from college to the NBA was just as impressive as his previous years. The Spurs chose Hill as their 26th pick in the draft’s first round. Predictions had placed the player as a second round pick, so when he was selected during the first round he made history. Not only was the NBA star the first player to be drafted from IUPUI, but he was the second first-round draft choice in the history of the Summit League.
